On October 8-9, 2026 in Maryland there will be a Drag Hound Performance Trial. The hunting days are both Thursday and Friday mornings. There will be a welcome gathering on Wednesday evening. This is a revival of the performance trials that were hosted by Aiken Hounds in 2018. This year, the location is the De La Brooke Foxhounds W’s country in Mt Victoria, MD. October 8-9, 2026. I have recruited 2 others to help me organize and spearhead this venture. Those 2 are Rachel Duffy, huntsman of the Wentworth hunt in New England, and the huntsman of the host pack, Kami Bitting. Kami will also carry the horn for the trials, this is very fitting since she’s a former drag pack master/huntsman and knows the Maryland country like the back of her hand.

The purpose of these trials is twofold, 1 is the opportunity to see other drag hounds hunt and compare what we have to those. 2 is the camaraderie that only fox hunters know. The friendships that are formed or renewed will last for years!

Come see 2 1/2 couple (Aiken Ludacris 2018, Aiken Lady 2018, Red Oak Ladybug 2020, Wateree Leadbelly 2023, & Wateree Lomax 2023) of Aiken’s finest hold their own against other hounds from drag packs from up and down the east coast. Side note: Lady, Ludacris, and Lomax are direct descendants of Middleburg Euro 2013. She was in our kennel and won this event in 2018!
